The Saturday Arts Club

I thought you might be interested in The Saturday Arts Club podcast:

The Saturday Arts Club

It's a light-hearted, intellectual look at theatre, performance and visual arts. There's also a quiz in each episode.

Anyway, aside from providing something for you to listen to, we really want people to get involved, whether it's their opinions or their work. If you have something that you'd like us to feature, get in touch through the website.

The Engineerium will be open for one of its steam days!   Sunday 10th October, 11am to 5pm.

I remember visiting this place years ago.  It's currently being refurbished and needs donations.  For now it's open for the occasional steam days where they fire up No. 2 Beam engine and show off the traction engines.

Just stumbled across this community looking for Brighton-y stuff, and it looked like the kind of comm I should join up to :) I'm Kat, 20, almost finished my second year at Sussex Uni, studying Psychology.

I adore anything fantasy/sci-fi, much to the disdain of most of my friends here, who are all off squeeing over Sex And The City, while I stay home and get grumpy because people are talking over Doctor Who.

Anything else, go peer at my LJ. I'm friends only, but only due to nosy relatives - I'll add anyone.

Anyway, hope to meet some great people here :)

Brighton Zombie Lurch
They all said it was mass hysteria, or a virus.  And then it was too late!  The zombies rose from the dead, and we didn't have a guy with a cricket bat to deal with them.  We have photographic evidence!  Run!  Flee before it's too late.

This looked a really cool event.  Some of the zombies were delightfully greusome and everyone in Brighton seemed really amused and bemused to see all these zombies wandering down to the beach.

Well done guys.  Hope you do it again.

If anyone wants a full sized copy of the original, uncropped 3072x2304 version of any of these pics, leave a comment.

On a calm and peaceful November Saturday zombies shall rise from the dead and take carnage on the streets of Brighton searching for fresh meat!

When there is no more room in Hell, the dead shall walk Brighton. On a calm and peaceful November Saturday zombies shall rise from the dead and take carnage on the streets of Brighton searching for fresh meat. Raging skin peeling, blood dripping ghouls.
Prepare for GORE.
Not suitable for the living.

You are invited to take part of what plans to be Brighton’s Largest Zombie Walk.

Zombie Walk to take place:

Saturday November 3rd 2007.

Time: 4PM

Place: Outside main entrance of Brighton Train Station.
Address: Queens Road

What is a zombie walk? A zombie walk (also known as a zombie mob, zombie march or zombie lurch)is an organized public gathering of two or more people who dress up inzombie costumes. Usually taking place in an urban centre, the participants make their way around the city streets in a somewhat orderly fashion and often limping their way towards a local cemetery orother public space.

Where will Zombie Walk go: Starts at 4pm EXACTLY outside Brighton trainstation (see above for address) Walk shall then proceed down Queens Road. Down to the sea front and then finally towards The West Pier.Z ombies are asked to stay in character throughout the walk.

The undead activities don’t stop there, we are encouraging zombies to hold their own mini beach parties. So bring Tall cans of blood forbeverages and fresh meat for snacking.

Please see myspace.com/beachofthedead for further details on The Pussycat club and The Brighton Zombie Walk 2007 (Beach of the dead)

Please note: this event is for fun and for lovers of dressing up, zombie and horror films. Please leave your attitudes for the living.

- Don’t touch anyone! People will usually take this in the wrong way andscream for help.
- Avoid little kids if possible. They don’t know it’s fake and you’llget their parents mad.
- If the police stop you, or you are generally confronted by anyone whohas a problem, be friendly and understanding, and let them win anyarguments. You’re the one breaking social convention here.
-Do not do anything illegal. Dressing up in a costume is not an excuseto break windows, loot shops, or flip cars.
-Be careful pouring fake blood INTO your ear, don’t let it get in your inner ear canal, as it may cause infection. Better to just smear itaround or use a cotton swab to give the dribble-effect.
-Fake blood can be VERY sticky, so be careful if you have to get in acar or another place you don’t want to make a mess of.

At least have some fun dressing up and playing a fool. All are welcome. Please spread the word.

There is a facebook group under the Brighton & Hove Network.
